Editorial Policy
How our car care and accident claim guides are written, checked and kept up to date, and how to tell us if something is wrong.
Last updated: · Reviewed by Ahsan, Manager
An editorial policy is the set of rules a publisher follows when it writes and updates content. Ours exists so you can judge how far to rely on the guides on ssautomotive.com.au.
Who writes and reviews our guides?
Every guide is written for SS Automotive Group, a mechanical and smash repair workshop at 5 Quinn Street, Dandenong VIC 3175 (SS Automotive Group Pty Ltd, ABN 61 650 317 007). Ahsan, our Manager, reviews each guide before it is published and when it is updated, so it matches how the workshop actually works.
Do we use AI writing tools?
Yes. AI writing tools help us draft and structure some guides. A person then checks every guide before it goes live: facts are compared with the official sources we link to, and anything about our own services is checked against how the workshop operates. We don't publish AI-written reviews, testimonials, case studies or photos presented as our own work.
The pictures at the top of our guides, and some illustrations on our accident and claim pages, are AI-generated images. They are not photos of our workshop or of customers' cars, and their image files are labelled as AI-generated (IPTC digital source type metadata).
Which sources do we use?
Where a guide relies on rules, rights or figures, we link to the original source rather than to other blogs. The sources we use most are:
- Moneysmart (ASIC) for how car insurance and claims work
- The General Insurance Code of Practice for insurers' service standards
- The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) for complaints
- The Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Transport Victoria and Victoria Police for road and crash rules in Victoria
- Vehicle manufacturers' service schedules and owner's manuals for servicing
What won't you find in our guides?
- Invented statistics, prices, reviews, credentials or customer stories
- Paid placements or sponsored recommendations
- Promises about insurance outcomes: every claim depends on the policy, the insurers involved and the facts of the accident
Our guides are general information. They aren't legal, financial or insurance advice for your situation; check your policy documents and ask your insurer or a lawyer about your own case.
When do we update a guide?
We update a guide when a rule, a source or our own process changes, or when readers ask a question it doesn't answer. The "Updated" date on a guide changes only when its content changes in substance, not for small wording fixes.
How do I report a mistake?
