What an aircon service covers
A car aircon regas means removing the old refrigerant, checking the system holds pressure and recharging it to the quantity your car's maker specifies. Our air conditioning service in Dandenong covers the whole system, not just the gas. We test how cold the air is at the vents and how well it flows, then look for the reason cooling has dropped off: refrigerant escaping through a leak, a worn compressor or the belt that drives it, or a blocked cabin filter. Why It Matters
Weak airflow is rarely just "low gas".
Warm air usually means refrigerant is escaping, the compressor is wearing or the cabin filter is blocked. A regas on its own won't fix any of those, so we look for the cause first. That way the repair lasts and you aren't back in a few weeks paying for another top-up.

When your car aircon needs a check
Air isn't as cold as it was
The cabin takes longer to cool, or the vents blow barely cool air on a hot day. That often means refrigerant is escaping somewhere.
Weak airflow from the vents
The fan sounds busy but little air comes through. A blocked cabin filter or a fault in the airflow side of the system can do this even when the gas is fine.
Noise when the AC is switched on
A rattle, squeal or grinding that starts with the AC can come from the compressor or the belt that drives it. An early check can stop a small fault turning into a bigger repair.
A musty smell through the vents
Damp, stale air often points to moisture and debris building up around the cabin filter. We check the filter as part of the diagnosis.
Windows slow to demist
Your aircon dries the air that clears a fogged windscreen. A system that isn't working properly makes wet winter mornings harder too, so it's worth fixing outside summer as well.

How a car aircon regas works
1. Test the system
We check system pressure, compressor operation and airflow to see how the aircon is performing before anything is changed.
2. Find the cause
If refrigerant has been lost, we look for where it's escaping. A slow leak gets found and repaired, not just topped up to hide the symptom.
3. Evacuate and recharge
The old refrigerant is evacuated, the system is checked and it's recharged to the quantity your car's manufacturer specifies.
4. Check the result
Cooling performance is checked again before the car goes back to you, and we explain what we found and what was done.

How much does a car aircon regas cost?
It depends on your car, the type and amount of refrigerant it takes, and whether there's a leak or a worn part to fix first. Call 03 8774 5785 with your make and model and we'll give you a quote.
How often should car aircon be regassed?
There's no set interval. A sealed system in good condition shouldn't lose much refrigerant, so a car that needs regular top-ups usually has a leak. Get it checked when cooling drops off, ideally before the first hot days.
Will a regas fix my aircon?
Only if the system is low on refrigerant and has no other fault. If the cause is a leak, a worn compressor or a blocked cabin filter, a regas on its own won't last. That's why we test the system before we recharge it.
Is it safe to drive with the aircon not working?
Usually, yes. The exception is a grinding or squealing noise when the AC is on, because the compressor is driven by a belt that can also run other parts of the engine. Switch the AC off and book a check.
