Claiming with Allianz After a Car Accident
Allianz car insurance is issued by Allianz Australia Insurance Limited. Unlike several insurers, Allianz's Comprehensive policy lets you choose your own repairer as standard. Here's what its documents say.
Not affiliated with Allianz. SS Automotive is an independent repairer, not a Allianz partner or approved repairer. Summary of Allianz's published documents, read 3 November 2026; your own policy decides your cover.
If You're Insured With Allianz
What Allianz's Comprehensive cover says
Lodging a claim
Lodge online or call 13 10 13 (24/7). Allianz says it aims to contact you within two business days with a claim number and repairer details. Windscreen-only claims go to O'Brien Glass on 1800 557 055.
Choosing your repairer
Allianz's Comprehensive PDS says it will help you find a repairer, or you can choose your own. If you choose your own, Allianz may get a second quote from a repairer it picks. Allianz's newer Comprehensive Essentials product allocates the repairer instead.
Rental car if you weren't at fault
Included: a rental car of similar size and type until your car is repaired and returned, or a $50 a day travel allowance if no car is available, plus up to $2,000 towards the rental's excess or bond. You need the other person's name and residential address, or phone number, or other details that identify them. Call Allianz for approval first.
Excess when you're not at fault
No basic excess where the damage was another person's fault and you can give their name and address, or phone number, or other information that identifies them. If an excess is charged and someone else is later found at fault, Allianz refunds it.
Towing
Towing to the nearest repairer, a safe place or another agreed place, plus reasonable storage. Where you and Allianz agree on a repairer and the car can't be driven, Allianz tows it to that repairer.
Repair guarantee
Materials and workmanship on repairs Allianz authorises are guaranteed for as long as you own or lease the car.
If a Allianz Driver Hit You
Claiming against a Allianz customer
We didn't find an Allianz page for people claiming against an Allianz customer. Allianz tells its own customers that if someone else caused the damage, they should contact that person's insurer. If an Allianz driver hit you, claim through your own insurer or ask us to handle a not-at-fault claim.
Where We Fit
How SS Automotive can help
Allianz Comprehensive lets you name your own repairer, so you can ask Allianz to use us and we'll send a quote for it to check. If the other driver was at fault, you can claim against their insurer instead; we handle that claim, arrange the tow and organise a replacement car once the claim paperwork is finalised. Quotes are free.
Worth knowing
- If you choose your own repairer, Allianz may get a second quote, and it can pay you the reasonable cost of repair instead of authorising the repairer you chose.
- Allianz's website and the PDS we read describe theft rental limits differently, so check your own policy schedule for rental limits.
Common Questions
Allianz claim questions
Can I choose SS Automotive on my Allianz Comprehensive policy?
Allianz's Comprehensive PDS says you can choose your own repairer, and Allianz may get a second quote to check ours is reasonable. Comprehensive Essentials works differently: Allianz allocates the repairer.
Do I need an Allianz-approved repairer?
Not on Allianz Comprehensive, which lets you choose your own repairer. We're independent and not affiliated with Allianz, so Allianz may get a second quote to compare with ours.
