Claiming with Youi After a Car Accident
Youi car insurance is issued by Youi Pty Ltd. Its current car insurance PDS took effect on 29 April 2026. Here's what it says about repairs, hire cars and excess after a crash.

Lodging a claim
Call 13 YOUI (13 9684), start a claim online 24/7 or use the Youi app. Youi asks for the other parties' name, address, licence and/or registration, and a police incident number if police attended.
Choosing your repairer
Youi's PDS says it will choose a suitable repairer from its network. If it can't repair the car, it pays the reasonable cost of repair based on a market search in your area.
Hire car if you weren't at fault
Included on Comprehensive when another driver was at fault: a compact hire car, or a larger one if a compact car doesn't suit your needs, through Youi's providers. You need the other driver's full name plus two of their phone number, address, licence number or registration. You sign the rental contract and pay the rental company's deposit.
Excess when you're not at fault
Youi waives all excesses where the incident was completely a third party's fault and you give their full name and two of: phone, address, licence number, registration.
Towing
Reasonable towing and storage to the nearest suitable place for safekeeping, such as a nearby repairer or salvage yard.
Repair guarantee
Youi's Quality Guarantee covers repairs it arranged, authorised and paid for, while you or a listed driver own the car.

Youi picks the repairer from its own network, so a claim on a Youi policy normally won't come to us. If someone else was at fault, you can claim against their insurer and choose who repairs the car; we look after that whole claim, from the tow to a replacement car once the paperwork is finalised. - The not-at-fault hire car starts as a compact car unless a compact car doesn't meet your needs, for example family size or work. Tell Youi what you need.

Youi claim questions
Can I take my Youi claim to SS Automotive?
On your own Youi policy, the PDS says Youi chooses the repairer. If another driver was at fault, you can usually claim against their insurer instead and choose your own repairer.
Is SS Automotive in Youi's repairer network?
No. Youi lists its network repairers on its own website. If a Youi customer caused your crash, you can still choose us and claim against Youi or through your own insurer.
